A power surge of inspiration…keep it coming, I’m gonna need it!

December 13, 2011 at 8:59 pm (Day to day updates of my project research and development)

I’ve begun writing my book! I’ll write this the way I’ll always write. I take a chunk of research that I want to turn into a chapter; I write a rough draft on paper, I scribble out words, add in new ones, put arrows here and there to move paragraphs around. Then I type. When that’s done I read and re-read it, changing it here and there until I’m happy with it.

And that’s only the tip of the iceberg! I’ll let you know when I start tying the chapters together and looking at the flow of it. I will post up some scribbled pages when I’ve a chapter done, just to illustrate this process. Stay tuned!

Here’s a look at how post-it notes can drive one to insanity…the first few photos are a wall plan of the skeleton of my book, the others are time plans to ensure I have this book ready in time for september!

This is the new way I’m going to comment on the documentaries I’ve watched…

December 5, 2011 at 4:30 pm (video research archive)

I’m constantly watching new ones, I download them from YouTube and watch them on vlc player. There’s little point in me linking each section of each one to my blog as well. If you guys want to watch them, that’s great; I’ll give you the names of each one I’ve watched. I’ve been taking notes of each new thing I learn from each one and will upload them as a pdf after this list  if anyone wants to read that. These notes are now photocopied and stuck up on my book notes wall in my house to help me figure out the specific topics I want to discuss in my book so they’ve been of great use to me.

Below are the list of documentaries I’ve watched and taken notes from to date:

1) Aftermath – Population Zero

2) Human Instinct – Natural born heroes

3) Through the Wormhole – Is there a creator?

4) Secret life of your bodyclock

5) Stone Age Apocalypse

6) The Human family tree

7) The real neanderthal man

8) Through the wormhole – Can we live forever?

9) Through the wormhole – What are we really made of?

10) Is there life after death?

11) Why we believe in Gods

12) The human face

13) Phages, the virus that cures

14) The future of life on earth

15) The day I died

16) Do you want to live forever?

17) The brain –  a secret history

18) Why reading matters

19) Don’t grow old

20)Through the wormhole – what happened before the beginning?

21) From big bang to man

22) Neanderthal – Planet of the apemen

23)Playing God

24) Einstein’s equation of life and death

25) Drain the Ocean

26) Reality and the extended mind

27) The amber time machine

28) Is it real? Super human powers

29) National geographic – extraordinary humans

30) Pleasure and pain

Update on what I’m working on at the moment…

December 5, 2011 at 3:22 pm (Day to day updates of my project research and development)

Over the past week, I’ve been increasing the time spent on mark making. I had been so busy with putting up my notes for the book all over my walls, that the creative aspect of my project had been put on the shelf for a while. But I’m happy with the ideas I came up with over the weekend and am working hard to keep both sides of this project moving forward at the same pace.

Still watching documentaries and taking notes. The more I know, the better! Also starting to read ‘Darwin’s dangerous idea’ by Daniel Dennet, a famous atheist and philosopher.

I’ve uploaded my where’when power point and am currently working on the big final presentation for the 13th of December.

So that’s it folks…social life has been put on hold until a few days before Christmas, but all will be worth it in the end!

My mark makings

December 5, 2011 at 2:51 pm (mark making)

Here of some of my recent mark makings to give me an idea of the style of illustration I want in my eBook

This are just rough ideas at the moment but I like the idea of vibrant, energetic and gritty illustrations and marks on my book pages, I don’t want the traditional clean cut, boring, perfect looking representations that we see in what few illustrated evolution books there are out there.
